Practice in Recess:

This residency is an invitation to score your artistic practice into recess. Playfully stay in the break; lean into disorder and inter-dependence in the rupture and cracks. What does a pericapitalist artistic practice look like? What commons do we find in the recess? We are not seeking relief. We are seeking dis-integration.

We value bringing diverse practices in conversation with one another to expand and challenge capacities.

We offer:

• Dedicated time & space for artistic recess and inquiry
  
• Presentations and critiques to nourish dialogue in the studio
  
• Final celebration/exhibition
• Opportunity for community engagement and placemaking by site-specific projects, presentations, workshops and other projects
  
• Create links between the local art scene and international artistic contexts 
• Guest practitioners provide prompts [what we call scores] to investigate and process the recesses of your practice
  

Who is this for:
For individuals with a contemporary critical arts practice. This includes and is not limited to: artists, curators, critics, art historians, educators, dancers, musicians...


Community Offering:
This residency does not require a complete or finished work by the end. We do ask for an offering back to the community at the end of the residency. Forms of offerings can include: objects, performances, a shared meal, community conversations...
